Expora ("Expora," "we," "us") provides point-of-sale and back-office software for restaurants. This policy explains what information the Expora app and service collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. Expora is a business tool used by restaurant operators and their staff.
Who this policy is for
Expora is provided to restaurants (our "customers"). The people who use Expora are the restaurant's owners, managers, and staff. Guests of the restaurant may provide limited information (such as a name for a takeout order) that the restaurant enters into Expora.
Information we collect
- Account & staff information. The email address used to pair a device to a restaurant, and staff names, roles, and login PINs created by the restaurant.
- Operational data. Orders, menu items, inventory, suppliers, sales totals, tips, and reports that the restaurant creates while using Expora.
- Photos you provide. When a manager uses a scanning feature, the photo of a product, menu, invoice, or document is sent for the sole purpose of reading its contents to fill in the corresponding record. These images are processed to extract text and are not used to identify or track any person.
- Device & diagnostic data. Basic technical information needed to operate the app reliably (for example, whether a device is online).
We do not collect precise location. Expora does not use advertising or cross-app tracking, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Payment information
Expora does not store customers' payment card numbers. In-person card payments are handled by the payment terminal and its processor; card data does not pass through or get stored by the Expora app.
How we use information
We use the information above only to provide and operate the service — running the point of sale, routing orders to the kitchen, printing tickets and receipts, managing inventory, producing reports, and enabling the features the restaurant turns on. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Sharing
- with service providers that help us run Expora (for example, hosting and the AI service that reads scanned photos), under agreements that limit their use of the data to providing their service to us;
- with delivery or payment partners the restaurant chooses to connect; and
- where required by law.
Data retention
Operational data is retained for as long as the restaurant maintains its account, and is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period after the account is closed or on request. Scanned photos are retained only as long as needed to process them.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.
Your choices and rights
Because Expora is used on behalf of a restaurant, requests to access, correct, or delete personal information are handled through that restaurant, which controls the data in its account. Restaurant operators can contact us to close an account and have its data deleted. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.
Children
Expora is a business tool and is not directed to children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
